TAG’s latest advocacy brief, Overcoming Barriers to Adopting the Four-Month Regimen: A Pathfinding Mission to Improve Access to Newer TB Treatments, examines barriers to adopting the four-month HPMZ (isoniazid, rifapentine, moxifloxacin, pyrazinamide) regimen. It examines concerns about price, tolerability, and the high pill burden soon to be addressed by fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) expected to hit the market later this year.
The brief provides narrative frameworks and evidence to make the case that implementing the 4-month HPMZ regimen will improve treatment for communities affected by TB today and prepare National TB Programs and other stakeholders to introduce the next-generation of improved TB treatment regimens more quickly in the future.
